Shutter Island (2010)

Mmmm... a little creepy but definitely not a horror (more of a thriller)as displayed in advertisements. I thought Leonardo DiCaprio played the character well. Not really any bad acting. It was also nice to see Ben Kingsley after a little while (Welcome Back!). However, the author created an ending as a huge cliffhanger and too unclear (my opinion) to leave the audience. I don't really think I will ever go out of my way to see it again but I did enjoy myself watching it.

It's Complicated (2010)

Hysterical! Of course I'm biased because I love Meryl but it was just fantastic. However, parents and kids going might be a bit awkward because of the adult sexual humor but it's not miserably weird with a parent. Kids under 14 should not go (my opinion) for the adult humor. It also depends if you like those kinds of films with old actors (Baldwin, Streep, Martin). I would love to see it again and probably purchase it.

Alice in Wonderland (2010)

It was pretty good. The graphics were great but the plot got boring at times. Johnny Depp was amazing as usual and was a real freak =]. probably wouldn't go see it again in theaters but will probably see it again sometime in the far future.

The Invention of Lying (2009)

A very cool idea to have a world full of honesty and then one man is the first one to start lying. However, the script could have been written much better. The sarcastic honesty was very funny at the beginning but got old quickly.

Ricky Gervais played the main character and is naturally very funny. He wasn't as funny in this film though and I also noticed how bad of a drama actor he is. For example when his mother was dying, his crying and scene that was supposed to be very sad wasn't at all.

Jennifer Garner was pretty good however. Her sarcastic honesty lines were the few points I laughed at during the whole thing. I got very bored and wanted it to end which rarely happens.

The movie got very annoying towards the end and felt very long.

Kramer Vs. Kramer (1979)

Just finished watching this in my living room. No wonder it got 4 Academy Awards because it was phenomenal. Both adults played their characters real well and showed off their acting skills as young actors who would grow old in the business.

The story line goes something like Meryl Streep, who plays Joanna Kramer, decides to leave her husband after 8 years of marriage and her son as well. Her ex-husband has no choice but to raise his child by himself, even though it interferes with work and other things in his life. Now, after 18 months away, Mrs. Kramer decides to come back for her baby and she tries to gain custody of him. It was really great and comforting to see the 7 year old kid and Dustin Hoffman bond and get to know each other even though sometimes through trial and error. They start out a little rough and by the end the boy doesn't really feel like leaving his dad. One problem I had was that I expected to see Meryl Streep a little more, however the movie is really focused on the bonding of a boy and his dad. The last problem was the poorly written ending that just cuts off, but I guess that's just the 70's.

Both Streep and Hoffman do great jobs, especially in the courtroom scene with all the witness questions and speeches really touches the audience's heart. Even the little boy did an amazing job I thought and made me cry, even though he was very young.

All About Steve (2009)

Not the best movie I've seen. I did expect a little more with a great actress like Sandra Bullock. She's one of my all-time favorites and I expect a great film every time I see her. However, in this one, she was a bit annoying but I guess that's the writer's fault and she was just doing her job.

Sandra Bullock played such a dork in this film where she's obsessed with a reporter she met on a blind date. She's so obsessed that she destroys her career as a crossword maker for a local newspaper to find him again. I feel bad for her at parts because no one really likes her including her blind date boy Steve. But being such a dork, she drives me crazy while watching to a point where I was unsure if I would finish the movie.

There are some areas in the movie where Bullock's good humor comes out like for example, when she finishes her shower and she attempts to slide down the banister and burns her leg. That was one of the few times I laughed.

So I think the real problem was the writer who made the story annoying and not the cast's fault. I wouldn't waste my money to see this again and wouldn't really recommend anybody to go out of their way to see this movie.
